ABOUT

JWA Electroacoustics is an independent experimental audio-electronics company. It builds instruments and effects around DSP, resonance, harmonic systems, feedback, sequencing and unusual ways of playing.

It's a small operation, not a corporation. Ideas start on a breadboard, get tested on the bench and go up in the Lab while they're still rough. The first one is RESON80R.

DSP
Sound shaped in code, running on small embedded processors.
RESONANCE
Tuned systems that ring, sustain and colour whatever you feed them.
HARMONIC SYSTEMS
Working with the overtone series directly: choosing which harmonics speak.
FEEDBACK
Loops pushed close to the edge of stability, on purpose.
SEQUENCING
Patterns and clocked movement inside effects, not only in synths.
UNUSUAL INTERFACES
Controls that change how you play, not just how you tweak.
An early RESON80R prototype on the bench: a microcontroller board wired to three potentiometers on a breadboard, with a second breadboard and a guitar pedal beside it.
The first RESON80R prototype, on the bench.

Humble beginnings

I started this as an 18 year old with a huge passion for electronics and music.
